Who builds it
EURVISTA is an academic translational project. The people building it research EU legislative politics and computational text analysis for a living, which is why the platform is cautious in places a commercial tool would not be.
Project team
His research combines EU politics, computational political science and text-as-data methods, with a current focus on applying natural language processing and large language models to the study of legislative politics. He directs ParliView, an AI-driven parliamentary transparency initiative funded by Google.org, co-founded the COMPTEXT Association for computational text-analysis research, and established the MSc in Politics and Data Science at UCD.
He holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin and held research positions at ETH Zürich and the European University Institute before joining UCD in 2014. His work has appeared in the Journal of European Public Policy, Political Analysis and European Union Politics.
He carries out the market and user research behind the platform’s move from working prototype to launch.
He founded CaliberAI, a Trinity College Dublin spin-out that applies AI to content moderation. As a research assistant in Trinity’s School of Computer Science he took that technology from proof of concept to minimum viable product and secured Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Fund and High Potential Start-Up funding for it. Before that he wrote briefings and research papers at the Institute of International and European Affairs, covered media, technology and society for The Guardian, and worked on information verification at Storyful. He holds an MBS in Management and Organisation Studies from the Smurfit Graduate School of Business at UCD and an MA in Politics from UCD.
The build team
The funded build phase adds a dedicated engineering team at University College Dublin: a senior software engineer, a machine-learning engineer and a UI/UX designer, alongside a pool of trained validators who check the platform’s output against the source record. Roles are advertised through UCD.

Rinn AI
The Research Ireland Centre for Research and Innovation in Data Science and AI, the national centre that succeeded the Insight Centre for Data Analytics and the ADAPT Centre in July 2026. It is coordinated by Dublin City University and co-led by UCD with Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork and the University of Galway. It contributes the machine learning and natural language processing side of the work.
